Colourful Grantham character Ronnie Ward passed away in June 2015. The local authority has now stepped in to arrange his funeral service. However, this simple, taxpayer-funded cremation service does not include a memorial.

The Grantham Journal has launched this appeal to raise enough funds to provide a memorial at Grantham Crematorium Chapel. This will be either a plaque within a granite book by the rose garden or a rose bush with its own plaque in the garden. This will depend on the amount raised.

Ronnie was a popular character instantly recognisable by his multi-coloured Mohican-style headwear. He deserves a lasting memorial - and we hope you will help us raise enough money to make this happen.
The cost of a plaque within the granite book is £702, while a rose bush with a plaque is £2,476. Any funds raised over the higher amount will be donated to the Salvation Army in Grantham, a place of comfort for Ronnie.
