Story

I've taken on the Lands end to John O Groats virtual run challenge to raise money for The Rhys Gould Bursary and Tommy's Charity. I'll talk a little bit more about the two charities and why I've chosen them a bit later on. But firstly, the challenge is to run 874 miles which is the distance from Lands end to John O Groats in 12 months. The challenge runs from November 23rd 2020 to November 22nd 2021 and I'll post monthly updates with a virtual map to show how far I am on my journey! So the two charities I've chosen, firstly:

The Rhys Gould Bursary.
On October 23rd 2017 a very close friend of mine passed away. Since then his family have set up a page which is now known as the Rhys Gould Bursary and have raised over £37,000! Rhys had a very rare blood condition 'Thrombotic Microangiopathy' otherwise known as 'TMA'. His family have teamed up with the imperial college hospitals, who looked after Rhys during his illness, to set up this Bursary to raise money to help with the research into this rare illness. A lot of you may have seen I've done a few challenges over the years to raise money for Rhys and will continue to do so for as long as I can!

Tommy's
On October 27th 2020, 3 years to the day after Rhys passed away, my Partner and I got called into hospital to be told that we had lost our baby at 11 weeks. This was totally unexpected for me as I thought it was such a rare thing. Since then we have learned that 1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth. It was only after talking to other people who have been through the same thing as we did, we realised how common this is. Tommy's are the largest charity funding research into the causes of miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth. Theu also provide information for parents-to-be to help them have a healthy pregnancy and baby.

I'm hoping to raise £1000 over the course of the next 12 months and giving each charity £500. I would be grateful for any donations people can afford, I appreciate 2020 has been a difficult one but every little helps. Thanks for reading and wish me luck 👍🏼
