Hi, we are Rachael and Andrew Harty.

Rory‘s box was created, after our 2 year old beautiful boy, fell to sleep following a short diagnosis of leukaemia in December 2021.

Rory was transfered from Royal Manchester Childrens Hospital to Derian House in Chorley. He rested in one of the Sunflower Rooms for 8 precious days before he went for his forever sleep.

From a parents point of view, those 8 days we spent with Rory, were and are absolutely priceless. As his mummy, I slept in his cot with him, I held him, I was still his mummy.

I didnt want to leave Rory, and nor should i have had too. Here comes the tricky bit, these rooms, are understandably so very cold. Rory‘s Box was born. -

The ‘Tiger Box’ has been purposely created for the families to use and take home. Within the box is a blanket, micro heat pack, thermal cup, a bereavement story book, an inkless print kit to create memories, forget me not seeds, snacks and a drink.

Each Tiger Box costs just £15.80 to create. £15.80 to go a small way in providing physical comfort, to a family who are living any parents worst nightmare.

Our aim is that Rory can take away some of the worry and stresses about the Sunflower Rooms, the items in the box will allow precious seconds to not be wasted when the room is at its lowest temperature. To not be forced out by the cold. To continue looking after them, for as long as you choose.

We have stood in these parents shoes. Everyone wants to help, but nothing can be said or done to bring your baby back. Comfort is the only way. We are providing physical and lasting comfort with Rory’s Box.

We have also recently introduced our newest addition the Dino Box.
The dino box is a memory tailored box given to Chorley independent funeral homes to be given to any family who are chosing for their child to rest either at home or in the chapel of rest.

We aim for Rory to help every family in the chorley area, who have lost a child.
