Story

Having graduated from Oxford, I was recently accepted onto a Postgraduate Masters Degree in Developmental Neuroscience and Psychopathology. This is a two year MRes, with the first based at University College London (UK) and the second at Yale University (USA). I've been offered a place as a Visiting Research Fellow in the Child Study Centre, and my research will specifically investigate the neuroscience of childhood anxiety/mood disorders. I am due to start at Yale in August 2019, however I am struggling to meet the financial requirements.

I was fortunate enough to benefit from bursaries and scholarships for my entire undergraduate education. However, there are no applicable scholarships for this specific programme and I am therefore having to fund it independently.

Alongside my full-time Masters, I have been working as a private tutor every evening/weekend, and teaching A-Level psychology in a school during the day. Additionally, last year I worked as a 1:1 SEN Learning Support Assistant in a primary school, supporting a child with cerebral palsy. Balancing my work and studies has been a challenge, however I have managed to save enough over the past two years to cover my tuition fees and some of my living costs. I now just need to a little more!

Unfortunately, due to the specific visa I will be on in the US, I will not be permitted to work. I therefore need to secure additional funds before leaving in August. In addition to what I've earned through teaching and tutoring, I have secured the following funds:

- £10,000 Government Loan

- £3,000 Anna Freud Scholarship

- £400 Yorkshire Ladies' Council of Education Scholarship

I plan to continue Skype tutoring and/or nannying alongside my studies at Yale in order to cover my rent. However, I do still need to secure some more funds before I leave for Yale in August. I understand this is a huge amount to have to crowdfund for, however I have few other options at this point. I therefore appreciate any kind of help!

Following this Masters I hope to complete a Clinical Doctorate in Psychology, with the ultimate aim of becoming a Clinical Psychologist - focussing on childhood/adolescent mental health. I would be unbelievably grateful for any donation - no matter the size!

Thank you so much for your time, and I appreciate this might be an unusual request - happy to answer any questions!
