I've raised £5000 to help St Andrew's Church, Little Massingham, Norfolk. Money raised will go towards restoring the church roof - the lead having been stolen.

This page will close on 1st March 2021. I would like to thank all those who donated to help me raise so much money. I have raised well over £9600. A new charity has been set up to raise further funds for St Andrew’s Church. Full details can be found at: https://fosalm.org/
I'm raising money to go towards the restoration of St Andrew's Church roof - the lead having been stolen a few years ago. St Andrew’s needs to raise £150,000.00 just to restore the roof - these repairs are very urgent!
On Tuesday 22nd September I started walking from Colchester, Essex to Holme, Norfolk. It was a very long way and at times I had some awful weather to contend with. I finally arrived at Holme, Norfolk on 29th September. I was endeavouring to trace the ancient Roman route from Colchester and join the known Peddars Way in Suffolk. Although I have completed this walk, this JustGiving page will stay open for a few more months.
From an early age I’d been keen to follow up a story handed down through some four generations of my family, that Peddars Way went all the way from the Norfolk coast to Colchester. Having been born and raised in a West Norfolk village where Peddars Way runs, this family story really resonated with me.
At long last I had a very good reason for trying to solve this mystery. When I left Colchester I tried to follow a possible Roman route joining the known Peddars Way. Whilst walking, I hoped to raise money to help replace the roof of St Andrew’s Church, Lt Massingham, because three or so years ago this Grade 1 Listed church had all the lead stolen from it. This was devastating news for the parishioners and as Patron of that church I really wanted to help a small community raise the £150,000 needed to complete the refurbishment. The church is in one of the villages where Peddars Way passes through.
