Story

Hi everyone, I’m Rosie, and I am aiming to raise £1000 for a theatre production I am putting on with my fellow members of Woman in Black Productions; Stephanie Fynn, Princess McDonnough and Roberta Barnor. The play, ‘Dee, Myself and I’, tells the story of Thea, a young woman who is struggling to cope with everyday life. Enter Dee. Thea's internal battle is played out before us as Dee tries to infiltrate and affect every area of her life. Basically, we're calling out Depression for the bitch it is.

Writing and producing this play is very close to my heart. I have suffered with poor mental health from the age of 14. At 21 I was diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder, a common and sometimes debilitating illness. I have personally had three separate depression driven episodes, and my co-writer, Stephanie Fynn, has also had her fair share of experience with the illness. This play is a written collaboration of the symptoms and struggles we have experienced.

The production has been performed once before, in The Act Theatre in Kingston, on a smaller scale, and was well received. This spurred us to develop the script further and perform it again to a larger audience, this time at Theatre 503 in Battersea, this coming September on the 25th and 26th. After this performance we are hoping to continue to Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2018. All funds raised will cover costs of set, transport and promotion, hopefully getting us a little further on the way to achieve our dream!

Along-side this page, I am also going to be doing a LIVE head shave, to promote awareness for all those who suffer with nervous pulling (Trichotillomania) which I have been doing to myself since I was 13 years old. It will also, I hope, give my hair a chance to heal and start again, and if all goes as planned, break a bad habit.

Please donate whatever you can, anything is appreciated! And if any of you have had experiences with depression or anxiety, or know anyone else who has, please come and see the show.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this!
