Story

Hey everyone, as some of you are aware I am going to be raising funds over this next year to enable me to do a DTS in Hawaii with YWAM Ships Kona. So for those who maybe don’t know much about this or maybe just want to know more, I am going to explain what this will entail, what it means to me personally and how I am going to be raising funds for this.

DTS stands for Discipleship Training programme and is a 5 months hands-on course designed to take me deeper into my relationship with God and develop me as a person. (This specific DTS is called the Life and Liberty DTS). The first 3 months of this course consists of intense lectures and training in addition to small groups, bible studies and other learning times. This is combined along with plenty of free time to explore the island and bond with other students, as well as a couple of hours of work duty a week where we are assigned a responsibility around base, for example kitchen duty, working in the café, hospitality or similar things like that. After this character building 3 months lecture phase comes the outreach phase which is 8-9 weeks. For this we will break into smaller teams of around 6-10 people accompanied with leaders from the school and travel to 1 or 2 locations and serve the local community (these locations are not revealed until we start the DTS).

I have wanted to do a DTS for about 2 years now and nothing else after Sixth Form seems to be calling me in the same way that YWAM Ships Kona is. I wish to live a life full of adventure, freedom and fulfilment and I truly believe doing a DTS is the first stepping stone in this journey. It’s an amazing opportunity to make incredible friends from all around the world as well as a chance to develop my character and truly discover my purpose, calling and identity in life. It’s a chance to develop passion, love for others, strength internally and externally along with a vast variety of other virtues.

As you can imagine, this is a big step for me. Therefore, I am going to be raising funds throughout the whole of this year to reach my goal of £10,000. I will be doing this by running 9 half marathons in 9 months. This allows 9 months for people to give anything they feel they can for this DTS which I will be starting in September 2023. Below I will put the dates I am doing my half marathons on and I will be documenting each one as proof on my Instagram page (link also below) and via the updates on this page. I will also put the YWAM ships Kona’s website link below. This will be my main way of fundraising so I am grateful for anything you are willing to give whether that be £5 or £500. No number is too big or too small. I would also be so grateful for any general support you are willing to give e.g, prayers etc. When doing the DTS, I will be sending out a monthly update to anyone who wishes to hear about any of the exciting things I get up to!

Thanks so much for reading this and taking the time to hear about this new chapter God is calling me to start. I am so excited and cannot wait to see what he does and where It will take me.
