Story

In October 2016, Ross, a very fit and healthy 24 year old began to feel very weak and was losing the ability to use his arms. After much confusion from doctors and a number of visits to hospitals, little did he know that he had suffered an attack from Neuromyelitis Optica (NMO). NMO is a very rare autoimmune disorder which affects the spinal cord and nerves. This results in the body's immune system reacting abnormally and attacking the body's healthy tissues. The attack resulted in Ross losing the use of his arms.

After months in a number of hospitals and rehabilitation units Ross was no further forward with his recovery and living in fear of another attack. However, Ross (now 26) has finally met with specialists in this field there is hope that he can regain the use of his arms. The specialists have advised Ross that this particular muscle stimulator will aid in his recovery.

This page is set up in order to fund the purchase of the muscle stimulator. It will stimulate the muscles and encourage neural sprouting to aid in regaining movement in his arms. All the money raised will go towards directly to Ross so he can buy this piece of equipment that will be vital in his recovery.

To support Ross and help raise funds towards the muscle stimulator I will be running a 5 hour ultra warrior event in the Lake District on August 5th 2018. This is a 5 hour endurance event that will see me run continuous laps of a 12km assault course to help raise money for one of my best mates. During the challenge I will run through fire, be submerged in 10 tons of ice, electrocuted and the remainder of the '25 punishing obstacles' all while running up and down hills through 100 tons of mud!

Ross is the kind of friend who would do anything to help those in need, however is reluctant to ask for help for himself. I would appreciate if you would help me help my best friend regain normality in his life (and be able to finally hold a pint again!).
