Story
The school was established in January 2009 by a South African couple, Mark and Fiona Tomlinson. Sadly Mark Tomlinson later died and the school is now being managed alone by his widow. The school is currently rated as the most successful academic school in Zambia.
The school has at present 370 pupils ranging from pre-school age to grade 10 and these are served by 17 teachers. The school hopes to expand further by adding another age group. The majority of the parents live below the poverty line and many are illiterate. The parents have to contribute 4 Zambian dollars per child per term to the school and if they cannot afford it, they carry out manual labour at the school such as cleaning and gardening.
The school does not have sufficient toilet facilities or clean water resulting in the children not having proper hygiene practices which enables the spread of disease and viruses such as Covid-19. Every child should have access to decent toilets and clean water for handwashing.
