Story

Many of you know how much of dog person I am and how I took Roxie our Rottweiler in as a foster dog as it was her last chance to try and put weight. She was the first Rottie that I had ever worked with so had a soft spot for her. She turned out to be a foster fail and now permanently lives with us and our two other dogs. What a lot of people don‘t know is where she came from and the amazing support and love she was given before us.

Roxie came from a family home where the owners would let their toddler hit her and do whatever they wanted. They were offered a place in a shelter as they wanted to get rid of her but it was too far for them to travel so they dumped her on the street and left to fend for herself. She then was taken in by Alex at Bear Kennels that rehome dogs. She was skin and bone and from the pictures you will see what a state she was in. We offered her a home to recover in to see if this would help with weight gain and it did thankfully but there were behavioural issues to deal with.

The image below is the day she came home, I gave her a bath and some food and she curled up with me. She weighed about 23kg, there was nothing to her.

Alex is fantastic at her job of dealing with dog with issues and helping their owners understand what needs to be done and how you can work together with your dog to overcome these hurdles. Roxie is very fortunate that she has a home and onwers that are willing to work with her, sadly there are too many dogs that do not have this option. Those dogs are the ones that I am raising money for.

On Sunday 3rd June 5 Rottweilers were surrenedered into care. There are two 7 year old males, a 5 year old female and her two 3 year old sons. None of these dogs seem to have been outside, they are scared of wearing a collar and the female looks to have been bred from as soon as she was ready every season. All of them are scared and unsure of simple items like a food bowl and bed. For their previous owners to say they are happy socialble dogs is ridiculous. All of the dogs are going to be staying with Alex for therapy and training to help them overcome these fears and be able to move on to a new home.

For these dogs to recieve the training, support and care they need it is going to be a big bill. I cannot take anymore dogs in and think my partner may kill me if I did but what I can do is work my hardest at what I am good at ......

Booking crazy triathlon events !

Now I‘m not talking a small distance I am talking full ironman 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike and a marathon at the end. I am taking part this year in Wales Ironman which is one of the hilliest ones around.

I am asking for people to please sponsor me for this crazy challenge. All money will be going to project Rottweiler Rehabilitation, anything people could contribute is fantastic. Whether its the cost of poo bags or a weeks food for these amazing dogs I am incredibly grateful to you.

I will be posting regular updates about training and how the dogs are doing and please feel free to share this page with your friends and family.

Thank you xx
