Story

This August we will be taking part in the Rough Runner Scotland event, which is a 10km obstacle course combining endurance running with obstacles inspired by famous TV programmes.

We will be running to raise money for Alopecia UK. Currently, the causes of alopecia are speculative, unknown and due to its benign health effects, the disease has no medical cure. Although not damaging to physical health, alopecia can have severe effects on quality of life and emotional health through its impact on confidence, self-esteem, anxiety and depression. These effects on mental health cannot be overstated and shouldn’t be undervalued, especially in young children and teenagers affected by this condition in today’s image obsessed culture. The purpose of Alopecia UK is twofold; to provide support and help to those who struggle with their alopecia and to fund medical research for causes, cures and treatments. It’s been just over a year since my own alopecia condition began to aggressively attack my hair follicles. We're hoping to raise enough money to contribute to both areas of the charity.
