I am planning, along with my friend Max McGiffen, to swim around the Rock of Gibraltar (approx 12km) on the 8th November 2016. We are A-level students, currently at Bayside Comprehensive School and are planning to raise money for the local charity, Saffron Rose 4 Rett Charitable Trust.

Rett Syndrome is a devastating condition whereby after the age of three, children start to lose all the skills they had previously gained. They lose the ability to speak, walk and use their hands.

The aim of the swim is to raise money for equipment, which includes special computers (Tobii Eye Gaze) and software called "My World”, that allows children who cannot speak or use their hands to communicate.

Currently there are nine such children who need this special equipment at St Martin's, and the charity intends to provide it to each one. The fundraising goal of £5000 would be enough to provide a Tobii Eye Gaze machine that could change one of these children's lives.
