Story

My Son's friend Franco Pacik, who is 23 years old, was diagnosed with testicular cancer over a year ago. He has been given (BEP) 4 cycles and (TIP) 6 cycles for over the last year. All of which has not worked. His father has brought him and his two siblings singled handed. They are a lovely family who are desperate to find away to help Franco. They have considered moving back to Germany to see if they can offer an alternative treatment.

Franco explained that he was too embarrassed to go to the doctors which was why the cancer was not picked up in time. After the first surgery it was a Teratoma which was 9,5cm big. After the BEP treatment, he had surgery and it was the Yolk Sac Tumor which was 2,5cm big. Today it has grown again.

My son and his friends want to do something to help. We are going to walk around the Lady Bower and the Derwent reservoir, which is 16 miles. Please understand that these boys spend their lives in front of computer screens, walking 16 miles will be a big challenge, just going out into the light will be a challenge in itself! But, they are determined to do the walk with their friend in their hearts and minds.

The money raised will be given to Franco and his family to use as they see fit. The prognosis of Franco's cancer hasn't been good. Franco is trying to stay positive. Unfortunately, no amount of money can take away the tumour, but we would like to contribute to funds if his family wanted to explore other treatment options in other countries or just to help with travel costs too and from the hospital.

Franco, who struggled at college as he is registered def, was always a support and friend to my son, he puts others first, a real gentleman.
