Story

Roz touched all of our lives and was an incredibly selfless and generous person.

We would like to create a memorial project for Roz with an organisation called Street Child (https://www.street-child.co.uk/). Street Child’s main focus is building and developing schools in poor areas of countries across Africa, Asia and the Middle-East. They have also merged with Education in Crisis, meaning Street Child now also focuses on education in emergencies - with a focus on girls’ education too.

Roz expressed a lot of desire to work in Education in Emergencies and education at refugee camps – she spent some time in Calais on this exact cause. Roz was a passionate feminist and had a huge interest to work in these areas – educating youth when they are at their most vulnerable.

SC will be able to allocate our funds raised directly to a project which will go towards building a school in Sierra Leone, as part of a wider project to build 1,000 schools there. We will name the school in Roz’s name, receive updates on the school and would be able to travel to visit the school.

A potential idea to visit Roz’s school would be through an annual Street Child marathon event they organise in Sierra Leone (https://www.sierraleonemarathon.com/, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VShV7wO2cAg&t=5s).

There's already been £15,000 expressed from Roz’s family and £2,180 fundraised on this page. This means we should be able to arrange a project in which the building of an entire school is financed from our funds. Any further donations will add to this project.

It will take a few months for Street Child to allocate our specific school, but we will keep you updated via the Facebook tribute page.

We hope you agree that this is the perfect project to memorialise Roz and reflects her altruistic personality.

Any other ideas or contributions from anyone in any way, please just contact us. This project is fully open to everyone’s input and support.

Many thanks and much love
