Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.

Emmanuel came to England back in September 2011 at the age of 15 carrying his massive science book from Ghana. He had dreamt and aspired to be a doctor. Within three months of being in the country however, he complained of severe back pains only to be told that he had leukaemia. He spent his first Christmas in hospital. It was shocking. No one in my family had ever had cancer. Suddenly as it had come, the leukaemia disappeared within six months. Hooray! It had gone into remission. Our prayers had been answered. The gruesome treatment had worked.
Fast forward to September 2014, I found myself sitting in a daze, in an undertaker's office in East London, looking through a selection of coffins in a booklet. Which one would be fitting enough, as the final resting place, for my dancer, my comic, my faithful Christian, my science fanatic, my annoying brother, Chief, Koo E-ma? Yes, you guessed right. The leukaemia relapsed and killed Emmanuel out of the blue. We never saw it coming. We never saw it coming. We never saw it coming.
My Dream Again Project will specifically raise cancer and disability awareness in Emmanuel's memory. Proceeds will go towards three causes:
50% for Clic Sargent (a cancer charity that helps young people and their families - they helped Emmanuel and my family after diagnosis and even after he passed away). 30% PCAF - Physically Challenged Action Foundation in Ghana (they help young disabled adults gain educational and vocational skills to make them self sufficient). 20% Emmanuel Compassion Fund (set up to specifically help Rachael and Ebenezer- my disabled cousins who have multiple sclerosis and cerebral palsy and are wheel chair bound in Ghana and constantly need health care; some part of this percentage will also help other friends and relatives who have long term illnesses).
Emmanuel, I promised I will never forget you. And I will keep that promise until God calls me too. You never stopped dreaming. I still dream again and again...
