Ruby was diagnosed with an aggresive and incredibly rare form of stage 4 ATRT brain cancer on NYE 2020. She is 2 years old on 2nd May 2021.

Since NYE, Debbi, Steve and Jasper have been helping Ruby on her journey to fight this cancer, along with the amazing medical staff at John Racliffe hospital in Oxford.

A week after finding out Rubys diagnosis, she underwent vital brain surgery to remove part of the tumour which was successful. Since then, Ruby has been fighting every round of chemotherapy with her sheer tenacity.

Unfortunately, due to the cancer being so aggressive, Rubys March MRI had shown what looks to be a further tumour which is displaying signs of being non-receptive to chemo. A very nervous month was had while continuing with one last chance round of chemotherapy, amazingly the chemo cocktail did the trick and the second tumour site has now reduced. This means Ruby heads into high dose chemotherapy which will strip every fast growing cell in her body and make her incredibly ill but its her best chance of beating this monster of a cancer,

If High dose chemo is successful it is likely Ruby will need to be put on an immune therapy trial to teach her body to fight the cancer should it return, if the high dose does not manage to kill every single tumour cell or the tumour learns to fight back she will need to go into experimental trials as due to her age there is no approved further treatment available to her,
