Story
“To ride or not to ride – there is no question.”
I am a Ruff Rider – a spirited cyclist and proud member of a youth drama group from the very school where William Shakespeare once studied. In 2026, our troupe will take an original play to the grand stage of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, performing on the iconic Royal Mile. But before I tread the boards, I’ll tread the road – on two wheels.
On August 27th, I’ll set off from Shakespeare’s school in Stratford-upon-Avon and begin a five-day journey to the summit of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon). For four days, I’ll cycle across challenging terrain, camping along the way and carrying all my gear. On the fifth day, I’ll swap pedals for boots and climb to the peak of Wales’ tallest mountain.
This adventure will push my endurance, resolve – and perhaps my sanity – all in the name of bringing theatre to the stage. Every pound you donate will help get me, and my fellow performers, to Edinburgh, supporting our travel, staging, costumes, and the chance to bring young voices to one of the world’s biggest celebrations of the arts.
Whether you’re inspired by the Bard or by the challenge ahead, I’d be grateful for your support. “All the world’s a stage,” and I’m pedalling toward our moment in the spotlight.
