Story
Rufus arrived, already sleeping, at 16:46 on Sunday 11 October 2020. He weighed in at 6 lbs 6oz and was a whopping 51cm long at birth. We are so proud of our beautiful little boy, who will never experience the negativity in the modern world, but will instead run free forever, never growing up, like Peter Pan and his Lost Boys.
We have been overwhelmed with the outpouring of love and support from our family and close friends. It gives us so much strength to know that Rufus was loved by so many in his short life. We will carry that love with us, along with our love both for and from our little boy, for the rest of our lives.
During our time at UHCW, we were able to spend six unforgettable days with our darling Rufus, allowing us the chance to create memories we will treasure forever. We were able to bathe him, dress him, take him out in the sunshine, and give him endless cuddles and kisses. Rufus was even able to meet his grandparents and aunties, giving them wonderful memories! The feeling of love we experienced having him next to us has been immeasurable in helping us go on.
It is truly heartbreaking that a product like this has to exist, and if we could make it that no one needs to use them in the future we would. But the thought of grieving parents having a time limit of 10-12 hours put on their last goodbye is something we can't bare to imagine and we hope you will join us in providing other parents who experience the same heartbreak as us the precious time they need with their baby, taken too soon.
Sweet dreams our perfect little prince. Mummy and daddy are so proud of you, and love you more than you could ever have imagined. You will always be our little macaroni man x
*EDIT* In light of the amazing response, we have set up a charity in memory of our son; we have called it Remember Rufus (RCN 1192076). We plan to donate all funds received from this page to the chairty, with funds first being used to purchase a CuddleCot for UHCW. Ceri then plans to contact all NHS Trusts in order to find out where there is the greatest need for CuddleCots. This is due to the George Elliot Hospital informing us that they already have two CuddleCots and do not want to prevent a hospital with greater need having access. Once we have this information, we will direct funds raised to those hospitals in need and will update you all on this page*
