Story
Beverley Braves rugby league club and Beverley Union BRUFC are coming together to raise funds for their team mate and friend Jude Kilgannon.
Jude age 15 was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer on the spine at the start of lock down, for the past months Jude has travelled to and from Leeds each day with his family to receive treatment.
Throughout Jude's treatment he has shown great courage, always showing impeccable manners at the most dark times and keeping his amazing sense of humour and his ability to make everyone laugh ( these are his mums Sophie's words ). 17 weeks after a major operation Jude is walking around and wanted to get back to school as soon as possible ( truly amazing boy ).
Jude has played for both teams from a young age, both codes under 15's have challenged themselves to dig deep, recognise what their team mate has been through and put themselves through some paces to raise funds to share with Jude & family.
Due to COVID restrictions we can not do a charity game this we hope will be set at a later date, so in place of a game :
Jude travelled to Leeds and back during his treatment each day 60 miles each way day starting at 6am:
Under 15's are challenged with running 60 miles or Biking 120 miles between 9th Nov to end of lock down 5th December, we hope after this date we can celebrate the challenge with Jude during a friendly rugby match.
Challenges have been encouraged to be set across age groups within the teams to "Do it for Jude" Parents, grandparents are also encourage to get involved with a challenge ( walk the 60 miles for example ).
Teams, parents have all wanted to reach out to the family to help and show their support, this way we can come together and hopefully raise enough funds for the family to do something special. Thank you
