My name is Mohammed Ali and together with my family we are asking everyone to support a worthy cause following the death of our beloved Mother Rukeya Begum. She passed away from Covid on January 17th 2021 in Birmingham England.

Our family are raising money both in her and my fathers name, to fund water-wells for the needy. My father Watir Ali, passed away back in 2009 and we pray that our parents will be both reunited in the next life.

We as a family never would imagine that our mum would be one of the latest statistics of the thousands dying from Covid. My mum herself would sit with us on the sofa and watch the news in disbelief as Covid spread. It has all happened quite quickly as it entered our house and she deteriorated over a period of 12 days.

However from this calamity that has occurred, we look at what good we can bring to the world and in both our parents names.

We are wishing to celebrate the spirit of our Mother. She was a strong, independent woman who came to the UK in the 60s and ran our family Fish & Chip shop in Sparkbrook, whilst my Father worked in the nearby BSA factory. She embodied strength and determination as a migrant woman, establishing herself and her family in a foreign land. With this in mind, we aim to continue our parents legacy with this strength.

God willing, we are building water wells in the name of both our mother and our father. There is a verse in the Quran: "By means of water we give life to everything."

This is why we have chosen water-wells for this cause. We use water for everything, from washing dishes to cooking food to growing crops. Those, in the developing world, who don’t have access to clean water, face unimaginable hardships, walking for hours to collect even a little water

‘The prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) was asked, “Which charity is best?” He replied, “[Providing] water”

We would like you to join us to raise funds to facilitate this act of Sadaqah (long-term charity), so it can be a continuing benefit for those in need, as well as being of benefit via good deeds, for our beloved Mother and Father in the hereafter.

The Messenger of God said, "When a person dies, their deeds come to an end except for three: ongoing charity, knowledge, or a righteous descendant who prays for them (the deceased)."

We will be posting exact details of where these wells will be built as we continue to identify the locations that need it urgently.
