Story

On Sunday the 27th of May, Jamie, Alun and Amy are taking to the streets of Edinburgh for its marathon weekend. Jamie is running the full marathon whilst Alun and Amy are running the half. They are raising funds for their friend Jodee's son Henry. Jodee explains Henry's situation below:

Henry is 14 months old. He has been diagnosed as having Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). This is a degenerative muscle wasting disease that means every muscle in his little body will stop working, including his heart and his lungs, resulting in his premature death. Currently, there is no cure, no treatment, no operation he can undergo to save him from this fate. We aim to change this with your help. We aim to help find a miracle cure.

There are 3 aims for our fundraising ;

RESEARCH: To raise money which can be donated to any relevant organisation searching for a cure, as this is the best hope for Henry and for all other boys with this awful disease.

HENRY’S CARE: To raise money for Henry, for anything he may need in the future to help him live in the most comfortable and the most normal way possible. (Please be assured, this money will be used for Henry’s daily needs – not such luxuries as a trip to Disney Land).

AWARENESS: We must raise awareness of DMD. We need to put Muscular Dystrophy on the map. The more people are aware, the greater our chance of success.

We will fight until our last breath to find a cure, so that no parent has to feel the pain and the desperation that we feel. We ask you all to fight and to hope with us.
