Story
On Tuesday 29th October, our beloved daughter, sister, aunt and friend, Laura Hughes, passed after a short battle with melanoma cancer which had unfortunately spread to her brain.
Laura was a vibrant, witty, and thoughtful person. She approached her diagnosis, treatments and surgeries with grace and strength. Throughout her illness Laura talked passionately about wanting to raise awareness of the dangers of melanoma. Laura also wanted to raise money for the services who provided so much support to her and family.
We, her family and friends, are raising money for two charities that Laura cared for deeply, Cancer Research UK and Charis Cancer Care. Laura took great comfort from the knowledge she found in the resources that Cancer Research provided, as well as their work in raising public awareness of this illness. The other is a local charity, Charis, who provided opportunities of relaxation and support to Laura and her family throughout her treatment. These charities do vital work and we want to make sure they are supported in continuing to do so.
Many of Laura’s family and friends are running marathons and holding fundraising events over the next couple months. Any donations would be greatly appreciated. You can keep up to date with the events plan on our Instagram page @runforlaura31
