Story

There were 32,015 domestic abuse incidents in Northern Ireland between November 2019-2020. The number of domestic abuse crimes over the past year rose to 18,885, an increase of over 9 percent, the third highest toll since 2005. That is 51 such crimes recorded every single day here.

Women's Aid NI need no introduction. As Solicitors in Newry, we regularly witness the brilliant work of Women's Aid Armagh Down in particular. We have observed many clients, many of whom have fled violence and abuse in their own homes, take back control and re-build their lives with the help and support of Women's Aid.

2020 has proven a heavy burden on Women's Aid's resources and they are struggling to maintain their vital core services. Urgent donations are needed for Women's Aid to continue providing basic amenities such as food vouchers and bedding for those women and children who have sought refuge.

That is why John and I will be running a half-marathon (13.1miles) on the morning of Christmas Day 2020. To raise much-needed funds for this wonderful local service and to support their latest campaigns, 'Unlock Your Lockdown' and '16 Days of Action'.

Please donate what you can and help smash our target! Thank you.
