Weʼre raising £500 to raise funds towards pioneering treatment to try & help stop Angie's MS by running the Southampton half marathon in April 2017.

I am taking part in the Southampton Half Marathon (along with my amazing mum!!) on 23rd April next year to help raise funds towards treatment to try & help stop Angie's Multiple Sclerosis.
Angie Fleet, is such a lovely person and needs our help! She was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis shortly after her daughter was born in 2000 and has had many symptoms ranging from blindness in one eye to not being able to walk. She was only 23 at the time.
BBC1 ran a short documentary on the 18th of January called "Can you stop my Multiple Sclerosis?" and the programme highlighted one of the two trials being done here in the UK . In the programme they showed that it IS possible to halt MS in its tracks and even see some improvements to damage already done too.
The treatment is called Autologous Hematopoietic Stem Cell Therapy (HSCT) and is a very aggressive treatment. It is done by harvesting her own stem cells before using chemotherapy to kill off her existing immune system. Angie's stem cells are then given back to her by transfusion to reboot her immune system without the memory of her MS. This has shown to be effective in 75-90% of those treated so far with her current form of MS (relapsing-remitting) and only time will tell if it will halt disease activity for a lifetime.
The treatment is not available on the NHS and it costs £50,000 for the treatment. Angie, friends and her family have raised just over £35,000 but we need to get to the total before November! So please spare whatever you can!
