Story

Anyone who knows me will tell you that I have two real passions in life
1. Dogs/Animals
2. RUNNING.

I am a dog owner myself and have 3 beautiful dogs Oscar a fox red Golden Retriever, Beau an elegant Standard Poodle and Louis a sporty, playful Standard Poodle. I always wanted a dog since being a child and when I became an adult for a long time I was unable to as I had a full time, demanding legal career. My first dog came 8 years ago and I have never looked back.

I would love to take more but we do not have the room. It breaks my heart to see poor neglected, abandoned , abused animals. People who take on a pet and then decide it no longer fits their lifestyle after owning it for years. My motto is that an animal is family and is with you for life through thick and thin.

Lizzie's Barn Sanctuary is especially close to my heart as I have seen FIRST HAND the amazing work done by the volunteers there and Fionna Ashman the owner. Forgotten, abused, abandoned dogs are taken into a safe environment, loved, cared for, given medical attention and where possible rehomed. Sadly some of the dogs there are too sick to be rehomed but they are cared for with endless love and given any medical attention required even if it means it comes from the owner's pocket.

This is a family run rescue and all monies raised are either from adoption fees , donations or fundraising.

As a keen runner I have been lucky to get 2 ballot places this year in Great North Run on 9 Sept and Chicago Marathon on 7 Oct.

I thought long and hard about who I wanted to help and this organisation would really benefit any spare funds that people can give. Money raised will cover costs such as vet fees, emergency surgery costs, upkeep of the kennels etc and will really make a difference.

Please help me to give something back and to help the forgotten dogs by supporting Lizzie's Barn Sanctuary.

Training going really well. 18 mile long run done this week. I go up to 20 /22 miles in my training plan in one run and then will be ready. My fundraising also on track. A huge thank you to everyone who has sponsored me and also Morrison's and Tesco supermarkets who are letting me host fundraisers in store in the coming months. In the meantime, check out my new costume for the fundraisers 😍. Please keep that support coming as any money will really make difference to the abandoned dogs at the Sanctuary.

Hello everyone, thank you all so much for your continued support. Training is going really well and I am now ahead of schedule and did a long 16 1/2 mile run on Wednesday. I am also biking and running throughout the week too. I have been busy approaching some pet retailers to see if they will support the rescue. Morrisons Supermarket, Port Talbot are supporting by allowing me to host 2 fundraisers in store on 11 and 12 Aug . Thank you so much! There are still some memory miles left for Chicago to dedicate a mile to loved one who has passed.

Your money will go to help dogs like Scottie at Lizzie's Barn. This delightful little dogs owner died, and this frightened and confused little chap was found with him, several days later, he was very lame and in a dreadful state. Poor Scottie has to have both patellas re modelled. Today's op was the first, so one to go. The rescue has already had a dental and two sets of X-rays on this chap. The bill today was £800, the next will be the same. If Scottie had not been taken in by the rescue he would probably have been put to sleep.
