Story
Jake, Chelsie, Kitty, Emily and James are running the Farnborough Half Marathon (for some of us the longest we’ve ever run!!) to raise money for Isabelle.
Isabelle is 5 years old and has been diagnosed with an extremely rare mutation of her DNM1 gene. The gene DNM1 controls a process called endocytosis, which is essential for normal brain communication. If this process is affected, it can then result in sometimes severe epilepsy and is why Isabelle is non-verbal, which is the main reason to raise funds for an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) device.
This device is also known as an Eye Gaze and gives people like Isabelle a voice and independence, so she can build meaningful connections and can achieve her ambitions. Eye Gaze technology uses specialised cameras that enable people with physical disabilities to control a computer using eye movements.
This device alone costs £9,720 and we would be extremely grateful for any amount donated.
This really will make a massive difference to Isabelle’s life and open up her world, and give her the opportunity to communicate with family and friends, which is normally taken for granted.
