World Human Milk Donation Day, May 19th is here!! This year’s slogan is "Love in every drop donated, life in every drop received”.

In 2021, ATTA Breastmilk Community was founded in memory of Alyssa Taha, who lived for just three days. Since inception, we have provided life-saving donor breastmilk to fragile newborn babies who are born too small, too soon or too sick. We have also given grieving mothers an avenue to channel their pain through breastmilk donation.

Today we are excited to launch our inaugural virtual #ATTARun, a joint fundraiser between ATTA in Kampala and Born on The Edge in Mbale to support establishing and maintaining breastmilk banks in Uganda.

We need you! – Here’s why:

In Uganda, many newborns, especially those who are born too soon or too sick, require the unique nutrients and immune protection that only breastmilk provides. Unfortunately, when a mother’s own milk not enough or is not available, access to safe and screened donor milk is limited. Since 2021, ATTA has provided life-saving nutrition to over 450 babies and dispensed 650 litres of breast milk. None of this would be possible without your generosity and the compassion of our bighearted donor mothers and families, including surrogates and grieving mothers, who find solace in offering their invaluable gift to those in desperate need.

However, we still need your help. Our friends, Born on the Edge, have just launched the first Human Milk Bank in a government hospital. We want to acquire cold storage equipment to ensure the safety and availability of donated breastmilk. Every step you run, every dollar or pound you donate, brings us closer to consolidating our gains so far.
