Iʼve raised £6,700 to donate to the charity arms of Kilmarnock FC and Ayr United FC to help assist in delivering worthwhile projects in the local community.

    Story

Following the Ayrshire derby between Kilmarnock and Ayr United on February 9th 2022, my father Colin McCue took ill on Rugby Road as we were leaving the ground and passed away in Crosshouse Hospital in the early hours of the following morning.

The kindness, love and support the family have received from both football clubs, fans and well-wishers have been a great comfort since Dad's passing and I'd like to try and repay that kindness in some way. So, here goes...

    #RunForColin

THE AYRSHIRE DERBY MARATHON - I will be running approx. 26 miles from Rugby Park, Kilmarnock to Somerset Park, Ayr and back again to raise funds for community projects being undertaken by Kilmarnock FC and Ayr United FC in memory of my dad.

Although I have run marathons in the past, they were a few years (and a few stone) ago so I am effectively starting from scratch. I'm giving myself around six months to get marathon fit and will look to do the challenge at some point in October. Once fixture lists have been confirmed for the 2022-23 season, I will have a better idea of a specific date.

I'll be posting regular updates on how training is going and to keep myself accountable.

Overwhelmed by the donations that have been received so far, the recent influx thanks to the video Killie put out last night has helped push past the £3000 barrier - so I’ve raised it again. There’s no infinite target, I’d have been delighted with £1000. I’d just like to help raise as much as possible so once each ‘landmark’ figure is achieved I’ll just raise it again. 12 days to go now. On the home straight, the hard miles are done - I’m just ticking over until the 25th and trying not to ping a hammy.

Hi everyone, I’ve been absolutely rotten at posting updates on here. All my chat’s mainly been on Twitter & Facebook so I will try to get better at updating the page in the coming weeks. Essentially I was starting from scratch at the beginning of April, grossly overweight and horribly unfit. But training is going well and everything is going in the right direction, mileage is going up, pace is getting quicker and the weight is coming down - 2st off. Thanks so much for all the donations made so far. I’m making sure every penny is earned.
