I've raised £500 to support Crisis, running 60 Miles in 12 Hours

Its cold this winter isn't it? You'll probably turn up the heating when you get home, throw an extra blanket on the bed, maybe dinner might even be ready for you, followed by a hot bath... Now that's a nice thought isn't it? Now imagine you have no home. No Bed. No Bathroom. No food, and No money. Homelessness is a very real problem in 2018, affecting an estimated 3.52 million people in England.
People sleeping on the street are almost 17 times more likely to have been victims of violence. More than one in three people sleeping rough have been deliberately hit or kicked or experienced some other form of violence whilst homeless.
In support of Crisis, a charity striving to end homelessness once and for all, our form 12D is fundraising. We aim to raise £500 and we are hopeful that the people of Uckfield can help us reach this goal. On behalf of our mentor group 12D, Sam Alvarez - one of our Sixth form Directors of Year at Uckfield College - is running for 12 hours overnight , covering 60 miles. She will be running in the cold of the night, mirroring the conditions that homeless people are faced with every day. We will also be collecting cash and change in college during PDT on Friday the 16th AND on crisis day (27th November), along with our other fundraising efforts.
On average, homeless people die at just 47 years old and are over nine times more likely to take their own life than the general population.
With your help, Crisis can end this inhumane suffering which we continue to let our fellow human beings face.
UPDATE: A message from Mrs Alvarez
I will be running 12 hours non-stop from 8pm on Saturday 8th December to 8am on Sunday 9th December hopefully completing a 10 mile loop around Eastbourne six times. Each loop will start and finish at the bandstand (top promenade) leaving every 2 hours at 8pm, 10pm, 12 midnight, 2am, 4am and 6am.
Please come and join me for a loop or as many loops as you want. I would love to share this challenge with as many people as possible - everyone is welcome. I will be running at a 'comfortable' pace - somewhere between 9 and 10 minutes per mile...hopefully! You can join in on foot or come on your bike. The more, the merrier - everyone welcome.
The route will take in the seafront, Lottbridge Drove, Hampden Park, Old Town and Meads - all on pavements with street lighting, but bring a head torch just in case!
Please spread the word amongst your family and friends. Together we can help to end homelessness.
Thanks,
Mrs Alvarez
