Anyone who has visited a relative or friend in hospital will know the stress of having someone you love unwell.

While we want to do everything we can to support a loved one through this, other aspects of life can add to the already anxious time. Travel costs, living costs and accommodation all come into play, particularly when supporting someone away from your own home. Sometimes you have to give up work or you may have to take unpaid leave as you might not be entitled to pay because you personally aren't ill etc.

Financial stress can be so so difficult and can have such an impact when we just want to be focused on our loved ones.

A wonderful couple I know have sacrificed a lot to support their family through cancer. Philip and Liz are vital members of our parish community and lead the music at my wedding. While we have missed them over the months, they are in our thoughts and we are inspired by their faith through hard times.

Many people have been moved by their situation and maybe don't know what to do to help. So let's do something together!

I'm running a 10k to raise money for Philip and Liz. I will be repeating a similar route I completed last Easter time. I hope to have some friends join me on the day again.

I hope this helps to give us a way to support this couple with everyday living costs.
