Story

Noah’s Star was set up by our wonderful friend Jo, following their personal journey through Birmingham Women’s Neonatal unit after the birth of their twins, Noah and Oscar, who were born at just 25 weeks. Unfortunately Noah passed away after fighting for 30 hours, but Oscar continued to be a little miracle and refused to give up his fight. During their time on the unit, it was increasingly difficult for Ben, their eldest son. Ben had to give up his school holidays to live at the hospital, so Jo and Kevin could spend as much time as possible looking after, and bonding with, Oscar.

Oscar is now three and an amazing toddler, who never lets anything get in his way. Jo has set up a sibling support project at the hospital, which offers siblings and families emotional support through such an incredibly difficult time, reducing feelings of guilt and pressure on the parents. It’s an incredible service, and one that so many people benefit from. However, the service is reliant on grant funding and fundraising, so here we are! The three of us - Shabs, Lils and Jem - will run a total of 300km in October 2018. We are most definitely not runners, in fact, Jem only started running in July this year! But it is a great cause and it will be well worth the pain. The money raised will be used to support Noah’s Star, and will go towards sibling boxes, toys, equipment and special events held by the project.

Thanks so much for supporting us!
