Story

At RunnersHeal we are proud to provide school meals for hundreds of children in Kenya through our social enterprise program.

In October our founder Chris Cooper was finally able to visit Kenya again to supervise our latest food drop to schools. What greeted him is the inspiration for this campaign.

Whilst the world has battled Coronavirus, East Africa has faced further tragedy. The monsoons this year were much heavier than usual. There has been widespread flooding with many properties destroyed, including one of the schools we support, in a village called Turkana.

Chris was able to chat with the schoolchildren, many wanted photos wearing his sunglasses. As the floodwaters have subsided slowly the village has started to return to normality. One huge problem though remained. The village well had been compromised and was contaminated. As a parent it is heartbreaking to think of these poor children only having access to contaminated water. Because it is the only water source in the area, they have no other choice.

Would we be happy letting our kids drink dirty water? Clean drinking water is something we take for granted and it's sad to think that even in 2020 we still have places that don't have this basic human neccesity.

We will spend the next year raising the funds required to make a new well. We hope that with your help we can get there a little faster and make a huge difference to the lives of a whole community. Not just for today, but for the future too.

We kick this off with Rav's Runstreak Day 1000 celebrations! We hope you can #RunWithRav and help us to #Run4Water and donate the price of a cup of coffee or a bottle of water to help bring a real change to the lives of many.

We need to raise circa £15-20k but this will be a start to get the ground surveys done. We hope you can join us in our quest. Much love and a huge thanks from us both

Chris and Rav xx
