Running to raise funds for care homes – as my first challenge I’m running 1000 km in 100 days!

Inspired to run for carers by my beloved Grandfather…

Hi, I'm Kunal, and in February 2019 my 93 year old grandfather had a fall and subsequently got onset trauma dementia. My family and I tried to look after him at home but it soon become too difficult and we sadly had to place him in a care home.

Since the pandemic started, we've been heartbroken not to be able to see him.

Not only this, the Covid-19 outbreak has really highlighted the support care homes across the country desperately need.

We're all trying to do our best for my Grandfather, but with the lack of family contact and familiar food that's so important at this stage of his condition, he's unfortunately not doing well.

It's not just him, millions of our grandparents are in a similar situation due to the outbreak, and are also at extra risk from contracting Covid-19.

As the founder of gymadvisor, fitness is my whole life. So I wanted to take my passion for sports and my love for my grandfather and create something positive.

This year I was scheduled to do 20 marathons in 200 days including Brighton, London, and the Great North run. Now they've been cancelled, I still must run for care homes!

I'll be running all over London and will video the sights I pass, to keep you all updated and show off the city I love.

I'm not only running for my Grandfather, I'm running for care homes all around Britain.

Care homes have been hit particularly hard by the Coronavirus outbreak and the essential workers who staff them are risking their lives to care for the people we love the most. I'm running for care workers, who are overworked and underpaid, and who are doing their best to support our grandparents in care homes around Britain.

Many homes are underfunded and short staffed, which places care workersunder severe stress. This then puts people like my grandfather, and perhaps your grandparents, at risk.

I desperately need your support to provide care homes with crucial extra funding during this Corona crisis.
