Story

I am Mrs Baird and I work across Years 4, 5 and 6 at Churchill Primary School.

I am not one of those natural, springy, gazelle running types who can effortlessly churn out mile after glorious mile; in fact, I'd go as far as to say I'm not even sure if I qualify as a "real runner". I work very hard for every single mile I churn out and I take great delight in telling anyone who I run with how dreadful I feel with every step! I do however, care about keeping myself fit and healthy for my job and my family and I also like eating chocolate (a lot!) Therefore, I run!

On a whim, I entered the ballot for the London Marathon, figuring it was going to be highly unlikely I'd actually get a place. Rather terrifyingly I got in!

Nationally, school budgets being what they are, I decided, if I'm going to attempt this rather insane challenge, I may as well do it for a VERY worthy cause - our fabulous Churchill School Community.

Mrs Woollven has given it much thought and has come up with the fabulous idea of fundraising for a new sound system and overhead projector for our school hall; something that is very much needed but way, way down the priority list. Our school budget is so very tight and money is always needed for something else. The current system we use is over 20 years old and those of you who have attended our wondeful family services know that the technology often let's us down! Furthermore, Mrs Woollven is very conscious of the fact that whatever we choose to purchase from the funds raised must benefit the whole school and this absolutely will for many, many years to come.

If you're in a position to be able to sponsor me anything at all, I would be incredibly grateful. Every penny raised will go to the school and your sponsorship and support will get me round those gruelling 26.2 miles through Central London on Sunday 21st April 2024!

Thank you so very much,
Mrs Baird x
