Back in July, my family and I had the privilege of visiting Zanzibar. While we were there, we visited a local village and came across a problem that I haven’t been able to forget.

The village relies on a well for its drinking water, and the pump that brings the water up from the well has broken down. Something as basic as having a fresh supply of water is a real challenge.

I came home wanting to do something to help.

On 25 August, I’ll be running the ETC at UTMB Mont Blanc. A 15km mountain race with around 1,200m of climbing.

I’ve decided to use my race for something bigger than crossing another finish line.

I’m running to help raise the money needed to give the village of 5000 people back a water supply they can depend on.

We’re looking at replacing the broken pump and with the possibility of a solar-powered system.

I initially set a target of £1,000 to replace the pump while the cost for solar is an additional £2000. If we can raise more, every additional pound will go towards the water project and helping the local village.

I’ll share updates and photographs as the project progresses so everyone who contributes can see exactly what their support has helped achieve.

Whether it’s £5, £10, £20 or simply sharing this page, it will all help.
