Story
On the 14th of August 2019 our little boy Rupert entered the world kicking and screaming, unfortunately Rupert had a very serious heart condition called Tetralogy of Fallot with pulmonary atresia and mapcas. At 13 days old Rupert went for a procedure to help support him until he was old enough for major surgery. However Rupert suffered his first cardiac arrest and the surgery didn’t work, he was placed on ecmo which was keeping him alive, Rupert then suffered a second cardiac arrest two days later when they tried to take him off this support. Finally on day 30 of Ruperts life he was taken to try and do the procedure again, it was our only option to save Rupert - it didn’t work and Rupert passed away in mummy’s arms that evening.
Rupert touched the lives of so many people in such a short space of time. The support we received from the staff at Glenfield as a family was amazing, little things that meant the world to us. We want to give back to their charity, we also want to support other families through what really is the worst time of their lives. The charity that works with Gelnfield is Heart Link but apparently im not allowed an official charity named on this page so i’ll just sneak it in here. They have supported us so much during ruperts 30 days and thanks to them we have so many memories with Rupert. From endless teabags and his little diary they filled with pictures for us - to being able to sleep near Roo It all meant the world to us and always will.
We would also like to give something back to the Lily Grace Cunliffe charity who approached us with a generous donation to help with the costs of having a child in hospital - this will now go towards giving Rupert the party he deserves to see him off from this world.
