THANK YOU FOR ANY DONATIONS! :)
My name is Ramona and I am a child practitioner with almost a decades experience.
I am dedicated to child care and was saddened by some of the levels of poverty I saw travelling through Asia, especially in Cambodia. The generosity and warmth we were given by the people there was truly humbling and we are hoping to give back to the country what we can.
Working with children has been my passion since i left school. Over the past 8 years i have been lucky enough to excel in a profession that i truly love, and being paid to do it has just been another perk of a days work!
My fiance Adam and I are planning to build a free school in Kampot (Cambodia), where we will be able to offer local children access to both an early years and primary education, as well as the opportunity to learn a high standard of written and spoken English.
Cambodia is one of the poorest countries in the world and is still classified as a third world country. The social and economic scars left by the horrors of Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge are still visible. The Khmer Rouge regime killed over a quarter of Cambodia's population in one of the darkest periods in modern history, and by purposefully targeting the well educated (teachers, doctors, engineers etc) it has had a lasting effect on the level of education afforded to the poorer regions of the country.
The level of poverty in Cambodia combined with a lack of opportunities has also helped it become one of the child sex trade capitals of the world. As police crackdown on paedophiles in the major cities, predators are moving into rural areas. Exploiting peoples naivety to the warning signs of this crime, or simply buying their trust means that thousands of children are robbed of their childhoods and subjected to unspeakable traumas.
Offering a free primary school education as well as free English tuition will drastically improve the opportunities afforded to these children. Aside from an education these children will benefit from a strong and constant support network in the shape of myself, Adam and Trevor. We will strive to give these children the same opportunities we were all blessed with, and help them as they grow into well equipped young adults.
We are working in conjunction with two main partners.
'Mangroove' is a chain of guesthouses in Cambodia owned by a close friend of ours named Trevor Seah. Through his guesthouses he already helps the local communities, having bought the local village a fleet of fishing boats to help them become self sufficient, as well as hiring local Cambodian staff at Mangroove.
He is passionate about helping the village children in his local area and has gifted us with the land to build our school on, completely free of charge.
This means all funds raised will go directly to the building of the school and the hiring of a qualified Khmer teacher.
Our second partner is Phoenix Resource Centre Charity, an environmental charity that has already helped over 300,000 children worldwide and is passionate about helping victims of natural disasters and generational poverty.
Phoenix Resource Centre charity have pledged to supply us with the school supplies that will help our children to experience the standard of education that they deserve.

The 15,000 pounds will help pay for the construction of the school, which will be complete with furniture, equipment and toilets.
Once building work is complete we will only need £400 a month to sustain the school.
We have enough personal savings to pay these fees for at least the first 14 months.
Adam and I will be working completely for free, and this monthly target will pay the wages of a Khmer teacher to help teach the children their primary curriculum.
The remaining money will help pay toward any additional student/school fees as well as contributing towards our basic living costs, which will allow us to continue to give our time and dedication to our students free of charge.
This is a completely non profit venture, and with the help of your donations we can offer the chance of a better life to potentially hundreds of children. As our donations grow, we will expand the school and aim to help as many families as possible.
