David Pickles is crowdfunding
Weʼre raising £500 to support Rushden Sea Cadets in the wake of Covid-19.
What is crowdfunding?
Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered nonprofit.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
Story
This summer will see the delayed 2020 Olympic Games take place in Tokyo. To mark the event, this year's active challenge will see Rushden Sea Cadets and our supporters work individually and as team to walk, cycle, row, swim or run from Rushden to Tokyo, with the aim of getting there before the opening ceremony. That's a total distance of 8,900 miles!
This challenge is aimed at improving the health and wellbeing of our competitors, but will also raise funds for Rushden Sea Cadets - a charitable youth organisation, which offers opportunities to young people on and off the water, helping to boost their confidence and self-belief.
Entry will cost £10 per person, but competitors are encouraged to raise additional sponsorship from family and friends - everyone that raises at least £20 in sponsorship gets a free Olympic Challenge t-shirt. Get in touch for details on how to enter.
All entrants have the opportunity to win an individual bronze, silver or gold medal, depending upon the distance covered.

11 days ago#OlympicChallenge update: It's Week 8 in our virtual challenge and we are on top of the world - literally! The team has walked an amazing 664 miles this week, arriving in Kathmandu yesterday - 4,600 feet above sea level. Don't forget Rushden Sea Cadets is a charity and this active challenge is raising funds so we can continue providing fantastic opportunities for local youngsters - like the free sailing lessons we've been doing this week. We're so close to our £500 goal, so if you haven't done so already, please consider donating. Thank you!

The team has done so well to get this far so quickly, but we would also like to thank you for your support. Your generosity means we have already raised a fantastic sum of £485 which will go towards providing some great activities for our cadets once lockdown restrictions allow us to return to face-to-face activities. Thank you! 🙏❤️
