Story
The money raised will enable us to subject the ashes to mitochondrial sequencing which will hopefully provide conclusive DNA proof that this is not Rebecca. This evidence is essential for me to pursue new avenues of justice and encourage the authorities in both the UK and Spain to act.
My case is one of the estimated 300,000 babies believed to have been abducted in Spain from the early 1950's to the late 1990's . They were either taken from the biological families deemed to be "unfit parents" as they were against General Franco, to punish biological mothers or simply to sell. It was a lucrative business!
The teddy in the photo contains an urn with ashes. I was told these were the remains of my daughter, Rebecca. There are strong grounds indicating this is not possible. With DNA evidence I can continue my search for the truth.

6 years agoGood morning. This is an update that I very much hoped I would not need to give. Unfortunately the initial stages of mitrochondrial sequemcing has not been successful. This means at the stage there is no more testing of the fragments retrieved from the ashes that can be done at the present time. I am very grateful for the money raised. The initial testing cost £3000. I still have £1500 to pay. I do not regret doing this testing as it was worth a try, however I now have to pay the remaining costs which is no easy feat for me.

6 years agoThanks to everyone's support I have been able to start the first stage of the DNA testing. In the coming weeks I will learn if it has been possible to get DNA from the sample recovered from the ashes. These results are key to my case. I am hopeful, but anxious. If successful , the net stage is comparing them to the same sort of DNA testing on me. I will keep you posted...lots of work and more fundraising to do!
