Story

This page has been set up to raise funds for my 2019 charity trip to Nepal with Global Action. I need to raise £3,390. My fundraising, as well as supporting my trip, will go towards equipment and building resources for a poverty reduction project in the Pokhara area. Our project director will be working alongside local families to develop our project. Typical projects have been either installing a school’s first piped drinking water or building a new school classroom . I will also be visiting the Gurkha Welfare Trust, a UK Disaster relief charity, to learn how Nepalese officers serving in the British Army coordinate development to remote mountain communities.

Nepal has a long history as the poorest country in South Asia and the twelfth poorest in the world. Four out of five people in the Nepalese workforce live in rural areas and depend on subsistence farming. They often have little or no access to primary health care, education, clean drinking water or proper sanitation services. Less than half of the population has access to safe drinking water, and half of all children under the age of five are underweight.

I would be really grateful if you could help me get to Nepal to help a small remote community. Thank you . Alfie Carver
