In 2005 Kitty & Paul Bond got together and rescued their first dog, a female pregnant collie cross that was due to be put to sleep that afternoon. They called her Jamie Bond. Jamie went on to have 2 pups, one called Minnie who was technically premature due to her underdeveloped state and Sally who sadly didn't make it.
Through extensive medical intervention and at great personal cost to Kitty and Paul all vet bills were paid leaving them both short of money for their own personal needs. Jamie and her unborn pups were their priority, they had made a promise that they would do everything they could to save her and her pups, no matter what the cost, and they weren't going to let her down.
It became apparent that Jamie had a double womb. The smallest womb was closest to the birth canal and where Minnie was born from and the larger behind that space, where Sally was in an upside down position. Minnie measured in at approximately 3.5 inches and the weight of a small mouse. It was believed that she would not survive. Sally on the other hand was believed to be normal size and was believed to have a good fighting chance. Sadly Sally was in a breach birthing position and passed away during the birth.
Jamie's ectopic birth left her emotionally scared for life and sadly 5 months after the births while on a spring walk Jamie frantically ran under a car and passed away instantly. She is still loved and missed deeply.
However Minnie was a fighter and Jamie an excellent mother and for the short 5 months Minnie and Jamie had together, Jamie excelled at raising her daughter. Minnie grew in leaps and bounds and began growing into a very beautiful Corgi-Collie cross. Minnie is now approaching 13 years old and still as strong and as agile as ever. And she is loved deeply. She is an awesome girl.
Since then Kitty and Paul have rescued many more dogs and rehomed many cats and dogs also but the demand for rehoming small animals, dogs, cats ponies and horses is so great that they need more funding for vet bills, rehoming costs and a larger premises.
Your donation to A DOGS TAIL is greatly needed, without your donation many dogs and small animals are being euthanized unnecessarily.
