I've raised £20000 to help Ruth recover from her sepsis, become mobile and find and adapt a home to live with her family. To be a Mum.

In March this year the Quilietti-Bird family; Ruth, Mark, Lucia (7) and Isabella (4); started living everyone’s worst nightmare .
Out of the blue, previously healthy Mum; Ruth; became desperately ill with sepsis and they were told to prepare for the worst. However, Ruth’s fighting spirit saw her through a horrific journey of near death experiences and of moving hospitals seven times to receive specialist treatment for her respiratory, heart and renal failures. Mark was trying to juggle being with Ruth and maintaining some form of normality for their young children. Her 40th birthday was spent in Intensive Care rather than on a planned family break.
Mark was told he should say goodbye, Ruth had a do not resuscitate notice added to her health records. Ruth fought back.
When Ruth finally woke up from her coma, after 10 long weeks, her hands and feet were black and dying. Ruth, an artist, still has her hands but both legs have been amputated below the knees. Ruth’s family had more time to process this heart-breaking situation, but Ruth had little time to come to terms with the news.
Ruth’s recovery has been remarkable and she is exceeding all medical expectations, but as a final adversity she cannot return to the family home as their flat is unsuitable, being an old build with an outdoor, communal stair.
You can help us crowd fund towards helping Ruth and her husband, Mark, convert a suitable family home where their 2 small girls Lucia and Isabella can live as normal a life as possible; and to provide a mobility scooter for those more difficult days when they happen.
Your support will help make sure that Ruth does not become a prisoner in her own home.
Please give what you can to this crowd-funding campaign, please share with friends and family – when a community pulls together great things can happen and you can be part of that.
