Weʼve raised £1,422 to Eat posho and beans ONLY for the whole month of November to reflect the diet of Ugandan orphans.

Funded on Monday, 5th December 2016

    Story

Lander4Uganda fund. Seven members of staff at Richard Lander School - myself (Ryan Bond), Jenny Griffiths, Sally Wright, Lisa Myners, Al Gell, Rebecca Knight and Adam Carter will be undertaking this challenge.

We will experience the restricted diet that Ugandan children have on a daily basis by trying to complete the Posho Challenge.

This means we will eat a diet of:
    • Posho (maize flour and water) and boiled beans
    • A small selection of fruit (based on medical advice)
    • The only liquid we will drink is plain water

We will do this for a whole month!

In July 2017, we will travel to Uganda with a group of Year 10 students. All the money raised in this venture will be used to make a real and direct difference to Ugandan villages and schools visited by Richard Lander School. You are not funding staff or student tickets.

The money will be used to carry out building works in a children's orphanage to support the basic standard of living and education.

      Update from the Page owner

Thank you to everyone who donated, we raised £3,026.25. Every penny raised will be spent helping Ugandans in need when we travel out to various rural communities in July 2017. To give you an idea of what the money you donate will be spent on, last year we built a block of latrines, extended and re-roofed a dormitory, provided school dinners for 400 kids for a month, bought bunk beds, decorated classrooms, painted a school, refurbished a clinic and distributed food parcels. Thank you all so much for your help with our project!
