Story

Hello ❤️,

My wife and I are continuing to raising funds in memory of our beautiful daughter, Penelope.

Penelope was stillborn at 38 weeks on the 23rd February 2023. It’s been an incredibly difficult and challenging year for both of us and we have received fantastic support from family, friends, colleagues, SANDS and the NHS staff at Forth Valley Royal Hospital.

We are coming close to what would be Penelope’s 1st birthday and we have been reflecting on the past year. SANDS (Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Charity) have provided us with monthly support groups, meeting parents who are in similar situations. This has allowed us to share our story and realise that we are not alone in what, at times, can feel like a very lonely and isolating set of circumstances. This support from SANDS and NHS Forth Valley has been invaluable to us during our grief and helping us to process this life changing loss.

From the moment I was told the devastating news, I felt an overwhelming urge to do something in her honour. As a result, I have signed up to cycle from Land’s End to John o’Groats (LEJOG) in her memory. The cycle will take 2 weeks, covering over 1000 miles and 55,000 feet of elevation 🚴‍♀️🚴🚴🏻‍♂️

We would greatly appreciate any donations towards this fund. It will definitely keep me going during the tough days on the bike knowing I have hundreds of people supporting me and my special girl looking down, spurring me on.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story and donate funds that will go towards helping other bereaved parents.

Lots of love, Ryan, Melissa and Penelope ❤️
