Story
Ryan has been diagnosed with Moyamoya Disease.
Ryan is only 23 years old but had a sudden, significant bleed on the brain in June this year. Ryan has been diagnosed with an exceptionally rare and dangerous condition that reduces the flow of blood into the brain. The condition causes bleeds on the brain which then restricts oxygen, leaving the brain damaged, similar to a stroke. It affects only 1 in a million people.
Operation
Ryan needs to have an urgent life saving operation at Bristol Southmead Hospital in August this year. The operation lasts for 12 hours after which Ryan will go into intensive care.
Our support for Ryan
We need to be able to stay in Bristol during the time that Ryan has his operation. We also need to care for him in Bristol during the 2 / 3 weeks following his release from hospital in a place that is comfortable and appropriate for someone recovering from extensive surgery.
Please help us
We are asking for help towards the costs of living in Bristol for at least 3 weeks (accommodation, petrol, food and hidden extras such as parking).
