Weʼre raising £10,000 to donate to Brighton Hospital in memory of Ryan Barrett, who sadly passed away on Sunday 12th May following a motorcycle accident

What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered nonprofit.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

Ryan was a senior Neuro radiographer at the Royal Sussex Country Hospital in Brighton where he worked in the Interventional Neuro Radiology (INR) Department.

He was very passionate about his job, especially the Neuro component of it.

We are asking for donations in order to purchase a fluid/blanket warmer for the department which covers the South East from London, Southampton, Hastings etc.

The INR department provides live saving treatment for ischemic stroke and subarachnoid brain haemorrhage. The patient at the receiving end of these treatments are critically ill, Ryan has helped to save or improve many lives.

The INR department is always trying to find new ways to improve patient care, Ryan would often discuss new ideas to try to achieve this. He always wanted more and better for his patients.

A fluid/blanket warmer would support the department in meeting gold standards for fluids (37%C body temperature). It would also bring comfort to confused and vulnerable patients and support a better recovery from general anaesthetic.

INR also provides care for Neuro surgical patients in a range of ways. For example by embolishing brain or spinal tumours to shorten surgery time and minimize blood loss.

Hi all, a further update for you. Last Thursday on Ryan's 26th Birthday, we delivered Hoodies to the Hospital for his colleagues, something that Ryan had mentioned on several occasions They said " It's like Ryan is giving us a hug" whenever we put them on. It was lovely to meet up with some of Ryan's colleagues again, over a lovely coffee. The workstation has also arrived, it has the right specification that can be used for 'reporting on' and also for training purposes. Delivery of the fluid and blanket warming cabinet should be imminent.

Hi everyone, Just wanted to give you an update on how things have been progressing. We have just heard from the Hospital that the ‘warmer’ has now been ordered and expecting this to arrive towards the end of September. The coffee machine has been in situ since July and we’re hearing how much everyone is loving it, giving a little bit of luxury, bringing everyone together, having a chats over a cup a coffee.

The Unit has researched and found a ‘workstation’ suitable for training and the funds for this have also been sent over to the Hospital and are awaiting an expected delivery date. We have been gathering numbers for the Department Hoodies, several logo’s have been designed and these are due to be ordered within the next few days. Something Ryan had mentioned he wanted to happen on more than 1 occasion.

I didn’t know Ryan at all, but learnt about this sad event via Ciara. His passing has touched my heart and I would like to make a contribution to such a worthy cause.
