I've raised £10000 to Help Ryan have life changing chest surgery

Ryan has a condition called pectus excavatum, it is commonly called sunken chest. As you can see from his photos his sternum has never fully developed which has lead to issues with displacement of his heart, lung capacity issues and pain. Ryan has been seen by multiple doctors all describes his conditions as a very severe form of the condition and stating he needs surgical intervention to prevent further issues as he gets older. To give you an idea of the scale of his condition a moderate score is 2, a severe score (recommended for surgery in the USA) is 3.2, Ryan's is estimated at 4.5
Ryan has always been physically active playing football and rugby at school and local clubs as well as a regular gym goer. Ryan has been forced to give up his rugby due to his health and is finding football increasingly difficult and is likely to need to give this up soon as health deteriorates and has started to require inhalers and medication to stay active. Ryan has also suffered severely with is mental health due to the body image issues his condition has caused and his school life has been affected. His favourite subject which had his highest predicated grade was PE but was forced to drop this as he couldn't face changing in front of people due to the comments he received
Ryan requires a severe surgery involving opening his chest to stabilise his chest wall. Depending on the future test results he has he may require titanium rods to be inserted into his chest or have his muscles completely dethatched from his body and then reattached to achieve this. The recovery journey is said to be extremely slow and painful
Surgery was removed from the NHS in 2019 due to it being classed as cosmetic in most cases it is just cosmetic but for those unfortunate enough to have it severe it is life altering. NHS England is the only Western country to discontinue the surgery, the surgery is actually still carried out as routine in Scotland and Wales. The leading surgeons are campaigning to have the surgery reinstated but it would be too late for Ryan to get the best possible recovery and to not cause complications in the long term
Ryan has always dreamt of following his father into the military but due to his condition he would never be able to pass the medical. It may however be possible after corrective surgery
