Story

I am looking to raise £1000 that can be directly used by Children's Ward D35 at the Queens Medical Centre. This money will be used towards buying toys, computer games, consoles, DVD's etc that will allow all children who are within this ward to take their minds off their post surgery recovery.

When my daughter was born there was complications with her digestive system. Being transferred from Derby Royal Hopsital to the QMC when Nola was 1 day old, the stress of the unknown was unbareable for me, my wife and our 3 year old daughter. Upon arrival we was welcomed by a Nurse and a Suregon from ward D35. After a lengthy chat we became more understanding of what surgeries would have to be done in order to ‘fix’ Nola complications. At 3 days old Nola had her first surgery and then her 2nd at 3 months. Post op‘s the staff of ward D35 were fantastic, not only with the recovery of Nola, but also helping me and my wife not worry as much. When Nola is 6 months old she has her 3rd and final operation, for this we know the staff will be supportive from the moment we arrive, to the moment we leave. Within the ward there is a children‘s playroom that has toys, games, consoles etc. Being as ward D35 has NO funding whatsoever, everything the children play with has to be donated. So I have taken it upon myself to raise as much money as possible so that the children within the ward have new toys, games, consoles etc that they can play with whilst in recovery or waiting operation.

Children deserve to enjoy their childhood and if providing new equipment to this unit allows even one child to have their thoughts taken away from their recovery then every penny has been well spent.

Please find it within your heart to donate to this great cause.

Thank you to the unsung heroes of the NHS!
