I've raised £500 to RYDC Performance Opportunities alongside Richard Alston Dance Company

Re:Volution Youth Dance Company is a contemporary dance group formed of 13 students aged between 15 and 17 in the Inverurie area of Aberdeenshire, Scotland. They were formed in 2016 by Evolution School of Dance Principal Suzanne Hamilton and Assistant Principal Stephanie Ross. Since their formation, they have been very lucky to have performed in Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Birmingham on a variety of different dance platforms.
In 2017, the youth group were invited by Sir Richard Alston (MBE) to perform their piece “Into The Subconscious” choreographed by Josh Hawkins as a curtain raiser to his professional dance company triple bill at the Festival Theatre in Edinburgh. Since then, we have kept in touch with Richard and his wonderful dancers who always keen to hear of our youth groups progress and looking at ways to help enhance their learning.
Earlier this year Richard approached our group with the proposal for them to curtain raise once again for his world reknown company Richard Alston Dance Company (RADC) for his Scottish tour dates in both Edinburgh and Glasgow. He was keen for the youth group to create a new piece working with one of his ex-company dancers in which he would help guide the choreography and challenge the dancers. In August, we were very lucky to work alongside James Muller in a week long residency to create a new piece which is entitled “Pursuit” which will open for RADC for the three Scottish tour dates. This will be the final tour of RADC due to the company closing in 2020 after almost 50 years of creating unique and distinct dance language and helping to shape contemporary dance in the UK. We are very privileged to be involved with such an amazing dance company in their final year of performance.
This is an amazing opportunity for Re:Volution Youth Dance Company but of course it comes at a cost. These performance trips will be completely self funded: travel, accommodation and food all have to be covered by the student and their families.
The students will be fundraising through a variety of different avenues in the upcoming months through bake sales, workshops and bag packing. We would love to raise some more money to ensure these performance opportunities go ahead for the group as they've been working extremely hard in preparation and would give the students a chance to enhance their learning and performance opportunities.
Please help to support this great cause.
We are very grateful for all donations received.
