I'm raising £45000 to fund "The Oscar Mile," a Daily Mile track to support children's mental and physical well-being, in memory of Oscar Till.

We are seeking your support to fund a vital project: ‘The Oscar Mile,’ a Daily Mile track at our school. This initiative will directly address the social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs of our children, significantly reducing the risk of mental health issues in later life. The Oscar Mile will be a 1200mm path meandering around the internal perimeter of our playing field, built with Oscar's favourite colours, blue and green, to honour the memory of Oscar Till who suddenly passed away last October.
Oscar Till was a vibrant and cherished 10-year-old, remembered for his infectious spirit and a life lived with courage and grace. He was a beloved pupil at Ryders Hayes School, where his absence is deeply felt. Oscar was truly "fast and fearless," soaring like the wind when he played tag. On the field, he was a formidable defender and a true team player, admired by all. Beyond sports, Oscar loved to play with his friends, always kind and gentle, brightening every day. He was a loyal and kind friend with a big heart and refined manners. Always helpful, dependable, and polite, Oscar brought joy and warmth to those around him, a true guiding light. Oscar was resilient, never gave up, and always shared what he had.
The Oscar Mile, costing approximately £45,000, will directly address the social, emotional, and mental health needs of the children, reducing the risk of mental health issues later in life. It will provide a safe and inclusive space for all 500 children at the school, fostering fitness, teamwork, and social skills. Crucially, it will ensure accessibility for children with mobility challenges who currently struggle to participate on grass. The track will also benefit approximately 100 vulnerable SEND children through tailored interventions. Even 2-5 year old's will use the track for motor development with tricycles.
Beyond the school, the local community will be able to access the track during holidays through the Holiday and Food Programme, providing vital physical activity opportunities. The Oscar Mile offers a unique opportunity to make a tangible and lasting difference in the lives of hundreds of children, promoting lifelong mental well-being, health, resilience, and happiness for generations to come. Your donation will help create this lasting tribute to Oscar, ensuring his spirit continues to inspire and benefit countless lives.
